HONOR BAND ~ May 7 - 9, 2009
The 26th annual Southerners' Honor Band Festival program includes nationally acclaimed guest conductors, one high school Wind Ensemble, two equal high school Symphonic Bands, and two equal Middle School Bands. The festival will feature a Thursday night performance by a JSU ensemble, a Friday night dance/social and a Saturday afternoon performance by all festival ensembles.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Band membership is chosen exclusively from students nominated by the school band director. Directors are asked to nominate their TOP students who are deserving of distinction and have the desire to excel. Every attempt will be made to accept as many qualified students as possible. The Process:
  • Download/Fill Out/Mail In the APPLICATION FORM postmarked by March 1st.
  • Check back here for RESULTS on March 24th.
  • Download, fill out, then mail in the REGISTRATION FORMS & FINAL INFO due by April 6th.
    (One per school! - Not Required Until Students Have Been Selected)
THE HONOR BANDS:
Students who are accepted audition for bands based on their current grade level. These auditions take place Thursday afternoon. The Bands are composed in the following manner:
10th, 11th, 12th Graders: Wind Ensemble, Red & White Bands
7th, 8th, 9th Graders: Southerners & Gamecock Cadet Bands
2009 JSU HONOR BAND FEE:
Unlike other honor band fees, ours includes everything your students will need for the entire event. The fee of $135.00 per student includes:
  • All Meals (Friday & Saturday)
  • Housing (Thursday & Friday Nights)
  • All concerts/clinics/social events
  • Honor Band Shirt & Medal, etc.
